Exhibitions Commemorating the Museum in the Context of Indonesia in 2016

     Sonobudoyo the exhibition in commemoration of the Indonesian Museum Day 2016 which falls on October 12. The theme of the exhibition Sonobudoyo this time is "Guru Dudu Panakawan Nanging digugu". The exhibition is organized by the Directorate General of Culture, Directorate for Cultural Heritage Preservation and Museum and Museum Vredeburg Yogyakarta. This activity has been officially opened by the Director of the Cultural Heritage Preservation and Museums Mr. Harry Widianto in Vredeburg Museum with the theme "Museums: Face Civilization Kita" (Thursday, 10.06.2016). This exhibition will take place from 06 until October 12, 2016 at the Museum Vredeburg.

     The brief description of "Guru Dudu Panakawan Nanging digugu" is as follows: Joke of the Panakawan always awaited in every staging puppet. Panakawan original character of the archipelago. Panakawan is a general term for the followers of knights in the repertoire of literary Indonesia, especially in Java (KBBI, Big Indonesian Dictionary).
The figure of Semar, Gareng, Petruk, Bagong, is Panakawan Pandavas in the Mahabharata, while Togog and Mbilung, Panakawan the Kauravas. In Panji stories where there are many nobles figures in disguise, known Bancak, Doyok, Penthul, chubby, Sebul, Palette, Jurudeh (Jurudyah), and Prasanta.      Panakawan got a big place in the Java community. Playfully, Panakawan always remind us to be critical on the social conditions around us, and to always look at the core of goodness in every event.

     In the Java language, Panakawan formed from the word pana (understand) and a friend (friend). Panakawan served as a true friend, always reminding the core goodness in every event. In the puppet story, Panakawan believed was a manifestation of the gods assigned to accompany, remind and keep the knights. In our daily lives, Panakawan role as the "conscience", the voice that never stops reminding us, if we want to try to understand it.
