The Masterpiece Collection Will Be Persented Again In The China_Java Tempory Exhibition

In order to celebrate the 2572th Chinese New Year, Sonobudoyo Museum will again hold an exhibition of the Chinese-Javanese Wayang collection. This collection is a rare collection that only has 2 (two) sets of boxes in the world. It is an honor for Sonobudoyo Museum and the people of Yogyakarta, that a set of Chinese-Javanese Wayang boxes is the museum's collection. The interaction of Chinese and Javanese culture in Yogyakarta is very developed, it is manifested in the art adaptation of the Javanese Chinese Wayang story.

The play or story in the Javanese Chinese Wayang was adapted into Javanese culture. One of them is the kethoprak performance art. In the kethoprak performance art, the play that is told comes from a classic story of Chinese society which is then adapted into a Javanese story and is known as the story of Sudiro Ngumboro. In the early 2000s, this story was often performed on RRI and TVRI Yogyakarta. One of the figures who will attend the exhibition which will be held at the end of February 2021 is the figure Sie Jin Kwie.

Since 2014 the Sonobudoyo Museum has regularly held Javanese Chinese Wayang Exhibitions. Sonobudoyo Museum agrees that the Chinese-Javanese Wayang Kulit is a cross form of Chinese and Javanese culture in the archipelago. Through Wacinwa, the Peranakan Chinese community in Indonesia still have the cultural identity of their ancestors that can enrich Indonesian culture. In addition, this Wacinwa has the essential value of a well connected sense of identity.
