SONOBUDOYO RISING! DEVELOPING AND PRESERVING LOCAL CULTURE THROUGH VARIOUS FORMS OF ACTIVITIES

Yogyakarta-Museum Sonobudoyo Yogyakarta continues to invite all elements of society, especially young people, to unite and collaborate in developing culture. Reviving a sense of care and love for past cultures and traditions amid the current Covid-19 condition is the full concentration carried out by the Sonobudoyo Museum.

Sonobudoyo Museum as one of the museums that has a fairly complete number of collections, second only to the National Museum, makes it continue to explore existing collections through various activities. This is one of the efforts of the Sonobudoyo Museum to strengthen the public's interest in loving culture through cultural programs. This was emphasized by the Governor of Yogyakarta, in an effort to increase the public's attractiveness of the cultural potential of Yogyakarta, a special program was needed. Based on this, the Sonobudoyo Museum took a role in realizing a sense of caring and love for culture through a performing arts program.

As time goes by, the Sonobudoyo Museum not only has special programs in preserving culture and traditions. But the Sonobudoyo Museum will also be used as a comfortable place for anyone who visits the museum. On the other hand, the Sonobudoyo Museum has begun to prepare various supporting facilities such as comfortable parking lots, clean toilets, fresh air circulation in every corner of the museum, and various other facilities. This is done by the Sonobudoyo Museum to eliminate the stigma of society towards a dark, hot, and disorganized museum.

"Sonobudoyo Museum has prepared a priority program for 2021-2022. The priority program that has been prepared by the Sonobudoyo Museum contains cultural preservation that is suitable for all age segments. Currently Sonobudoyo Museum has held shadow puppet shows, folk art performances, and banner puppet shows, which are regularly held by the Sonobudoyo Museum to increase tourist attraction and also strengthen the character of cultural love for the younger generation, "said the Head of the Sonobudoyo Museum.

Recently the Sonobudoyo Museum held a temporary exhibition of Abhinaya Karya entitled “Kembara Gembira: Come on Dolan! Let's Tell!, which will take place in the Sonobudoyo Museum Temporary Exhibition building from June 2-30, 2021. This exhibition involves interacting with visitors to reminisce and introduce children to traditional games.

“The agenda for developing and preserving culture for the younger generation is one of the important agendas in increasing awareness and cultural values. This is because it is directly in contact with the factual needs of the current era, namely the importance of introducing and preserving culture to the younger generation,” he added.

"The implementations that have been carried out by the Sonobudoyo Museum are, namely, by continuously improving facilities, services to the community, launching special programs, as well as collaborating with various parties from academics, culture, to the general public to increase interest in concern and love for culture, especially for the younger generation”, Head of Museum Sonobudoyo (JEF)
