Wednesday, November 6, 2024 Sonobudoyo Museum will once again hold the annual AMEX (Annual Museum Exhibition) exhibition entitled Meet The Myth: From Mythology to Art and Sustainability. This exhibition is held to commemorate the museum's anniversary which was established on November 6, 1935. This year, AMEX is present with a major theme regarding mythological figures, whose existence is often featured in folklore, legends, and fables. These figures are often depicted in zoomorphic, anthropomorphic, or a combination of both (hybrid) forms. They appear in images, in the form of works of art and ornamentation in various forms, both classical, modern and contemporary. Mythological figures are inseparable from the myths that surround them, and their narratives often contain symbolic aspects and socio-cultural values. This exhibition also touches on aspects of sustainability, especially concerning issues of ecology and environmental sustainability. In this modern era, the existence of a myth is often linked to the issue of environmental sustainability, creating harmony and continuity between cultural heritage and environmental challenges. In the context of cultural sustainability, this exhibition is a vehicle and ongoing effort for the maintenance and preservation of various forms of cultural heritage. In this exhibition, there are various artistic interpretations of mythological figures inspired by the Museum's collection. In addition, there are several special rooms with video mapping projection technology prepared to present mythological figures in a more interesting and interactive way, so that visitors can experience a deep and impressive exhibition experience. The AMEX 2024 exhibition was attended and inaugurated by the Regional Secretary of the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Drs. Beny Suharsono, M.Si who was represented by Paniradya Pati Kaistimewan Aris Eko Nugroho, S.P., M.Si. accompanied by the Head of the DIY Cultural Service (Kundha Kabudayan), Dian Lakhsmi Pratiwi, S.S., M.A on November 6, 2024 at 10.00 WIB at the Saraswati Exhibition Building, Sonobudoyo Museum, Jalan Pangurakan No. 4 Yogyakarta or the south side of point 0 KM.
